How it is calculated
Tip = bill × tip% ÷ 100; Per person = (bill + tip) ÷ people
Tip on the pre-tax amount if your bill shows tax separately and you prefer to tip on food and service only.
Worked example
A ₹1,200 bill with a 10% tip adds ₹120 for a total of ₹1,320. Split two ways, each person pays ₹660.
Questions people ask
It varies by country and setting. 15–20% is common in the US, 5–10% is typical in India, and in much of Europe service is already included and rounding up is enough.
Most people tip on the pre-tax total. The difference is small, so either approach is fine.
