How it is calculated

°F = °C × 9/5 + 32; K = °C + 273.15

Temperature scales have different zero points, so they need offsets rather than plain multiplication.

Worked example

37 °C × 1.8 + 32 = 98.6 °F, and 37 + 273.15 = 310.15 K.

Questions people ask

Double it and add 30. 20 °C estimates to 70 °F against an exact 68 °F — close enough for weather.
