How it is calculated

Men: BMR = 10w + 6.25h − 5a + 5; Women: BMR = 10w + 6.25h − 5a − 161

w is weight in kg, h is height in cm and a is age in years. TDEE = BMR × activity factor.

Worked example

A 30-year-old man, 70 kg and 170 cm: 700 + 1062.5 − 150 + 5 = 1,617.5 kcal BMR, shown as 1,618. At a light activity factor of 1.375 his daily use is about 2,224 kcal.
